COVAR History

Established in 2001, COVAR stands for The Council of Villa Associations and Regimes. The original membership of 23 communities has now grown to 41. These consist of 27 associations and 14 regimes.

The first officially recognized villas built were the High Hammock Villas, constructed in 1974, and were followed by:

Dune Crest Villas (1975), Beach Club Villas (1976), Golf Shore Villas, Shadowwood Villas and Tarpon Pond Cottages (1977), Spinnaker Beach Houses and Treeloft Villas (1978), Marsh Pointe Homes, Racquet Club Villas, Sealoft Villas and Shelter Cove Villas (1979), Wedgewood Villas (1980), Summer Wind Cottages, Duneloft Villas, Creek Watch Villas and Pelican Watch, Villas (1981), Courtside 1 and Deer Point Villas in (1982), Bohicket Marina Village, Courtside 2 Villas and Heron Point Villas (1983), Marsh Walk, Chateau by the Greens and Bay Pointe Villas (1984), North Beach Village and Fiddlers Cove 1 (1985), Atrium Villas (1986), Ocean Winds Village (1987).

The final 12 associations and regimes were constructed after the incorporation of The Town of Seabrook Island in 1987. These include: Live Oak Villas (1988), Homes of Hidden Oaks (1994), Haulover Point Homes (1995), Charles Towne Place, The Village at Seabrook, Saint Christopher Oaks (2000), Fairway One and Fiddlers Cove 2 Townhouses (2002), Dolphin Point Townhomes (2005), Horseshoe Cove Townhomes (2007), Salt Marsh at Seabrook (2008)Fairway One II (2012).

The primary focus of COVAR is to act as a collective voice to represent our membership to Seabrook Island Property Owners Association (SIPOA), The Town of Seabrook Island (TOSI) and The Seabrook Island Club (SIC).

COVAR communicates with its members through e­mail and virtual Zoom meetings, as well as posts in Tidelines and the “COVAR Corner” articles published in The Seabrooker.
